Atlanta City Guide (two days)

Hey y’all! We are just coming back from the most AMAZING weekend in Atlanta! I was able to vlog a lot of what we did & where we ate, and I’m so excited to share it with y’all! I hope you enjoy the video. For more details on each location, read the two-day itinerary below! Happy travels!

Where to stay:

12 Autograph Hotel (by Marriott)

Y’all, I cannot say enough good things about this hotel! Not only is it central to downtown Atlanta (about 5 minute walk to Centennial Park) it is SO nice, and not outrageously priced! We felt like Atlanta residents waking up each morning in our flat, to the beautiful sunrise over Atlanta’s city skyline.

There is also a pool, fitness room, and restaurant that you can enjoy! We had breakfast at the hotel our first day & it did not disappoint. If you want to be within walking distance to the World of Coca-Cola Museum & the famous Atlanta Aquarium, this hotel is your best bet! They also have a Midtown location if you prefer.

Day One

Morning

We got to our hotel late Friday night & checked into our hotel, then went straight to sleep. When we woke up, we enjoyed breakfast at the hotel, and planned out our day.

After breakfast we went to the World of Coca-Cola. Coke was invented in Atlanta, so this is a must see while you’re there! Tickets were not too expensive. You can buy them online ahead of time to skip the line. We purchased our tickets there, but thankfully it wasn’t too crowded!

Make sure to try as many flavors from around the world in the Tasting Room! It is right before you exit through the gift shop, and a huge highlight of the museum. You get a little trip around the world without leaving Atlanta!

Afternoon

After the World of Coke museum, we headed to Ponce City Market. Ponce City Market is a must-see when in Atlanta. It is basically a large indoor/outdoor upscale shopping center, with every restaurant & dessert option imaginable! We had tacos at Minero’s for lunch, which included possibly the best queso I’ve ever had!

After lunch we grabbed donuts from Five Daughter’s Bakery in the food hall. If y’all have never tried these heavenly donuts, it is an absolute must! I first had them when in Nashville and was absolutely hooked! We went to the bakery early (as they often run out of flavors throughout the day) and grabbed our donuts to-go!

After that, we shopped around a bit (Anthropologie, Lulu Lemon, South Moon Under) until we were ready for a coffee break! Just around the corner from the main market is the most adorable, and delicious coffee shops, Dancing Goats. Here we sat in the relaxing outdoor area, sipped our coffees, and enjoyed our delicious donuts!

Late-Afternoon

After coffee, we shopped around the market a bit more before heading back to the hotel. My mom took my younger brother and his friend (who were on the trip with us) to the Georgia Aquarium. If you haven’t been, this is an amazing experience I would highly recommend (especially if you have young ones). My husband, sister, grandma, and I decided to go hang out by the pool before dinner instead, but if you haven’t been to the aquarium, it is a great addition to your trip!

Evening

We met up with a friend from Atlanta before dinner, and he highly recommended bringing us to Antico’s Pizza . This was quite the experience! Located in Little Italy, this small pizza joint would not appear to be anything special based on the interior. But the huge crowds of people would say otherwise! It is hands down the best pizza I have ever had in the states (not an overstatement). It is the closest thing I have had to true Italian pizza & well worth the chaos of fighting for seats for our party of 7, at the few tables they had. The community style tables are right next to the kitchen, which is so fun to watch them make your pizza start to finish! However, if you’re not in the mood to fight the crowds, you can order your pizza to-go and enjoy it right outside in the adorably quaint Little Italy.

After dinner, we went out for ice cream at Queen of Cream. I got the coffee flavor, which is actually made from cold brew making it have a really strong flavor, and it was so delicious!

Day Two

Morning

This morning we woke up and headed straight to Stone Mountain State Park to hike off some the calories we indulged in the day before! This is a great hike that is not too far from downtown Atlanta. It took us a little under 30 minutes to get there. The hike is moderately difficult, but not too long (about 1 mile to the summit). It has an absolutely gorgeous 360 degree view of all the city pockets of Atlanta, as well as the surrounding greenery!

Afternoon

After the hike, we headed back to our hotel to shower and get ready for lunch! For lunch we went to Chopt Salad bar in Buckhead. This was an absolutely deliciously healthy option to round out our healthy morning! They have a make your own salad bar, as well as a menu you can order from. Each salad can also be made on a wrap if you prefer.

After lunch, we went to find our obligatory afternoon coffee! We decided to go to Brash Coffee in Buckhead. It was connected to the Atlanta History Museum. The coffee was delicious and it was nice break before we went shopping!

After coffee we went to Phipp’s Plaza. This is a great mall to shop higher-end stores! We stayed here the rest of the afternoon before heading to our final destination!

Evening

For dinner we went back to Ponce City Market for Burgers at Holeman & Finch. These burgers are famous in Atlanta, and they did not disappoint! Everything is locally sourced and grass-fed, so it was definitely a more quality burger than most.

After dinner, we went to our last stop which was the rooftop of Ponce City Market! This is a really fun destination for kids, as they have mini-golf, arcade games, and even a carnival ride! I would recommend going after dinner so you can enjoy a gorgeous sunset view of Atlanta!
